Darian Donovan Thomas is a giant joyous ball of pulsating purple light. Wielding a machete. Holding flowers. Darian can do absolutely anything. He is an animal being that somehow holds an energy of plused nonplused-ness. Unperturbed and timeless. Serene in chaos. A fire awash in hair. A glitter bomb with an opinion. Darian is a violinist, vocalist, and composer who has performed all over the globe with more brilliant music makers than one can count, including: Arooj Aftab, Moses Sumney, Blood Orange, and Balún (amongst a much longer list of new music stuff and orchestras and pop people and so forth and so on). As a soloist he tours internationally, crooning moans from his open diary. An icon of memory and presence, Darian is singular. He is the kind of person that can change a room musically or with a laugh. He’s already changed us, and he’s not even in his final form yet. Perhaps he’ll metabolize us as he ascends. And we feel lucky about it.
