The Collective Orchestra
This is Wild Up’s participatory orchestral model: a framework where community members rehearse and perform side-by-side with Wild Up musicians. It’s an invitation onto our side of the music stand and into the ensemble itself — a place to learn, experiment, co-create, and experience the joy of making music together.
We envision a unified field of people creating sound — dissolving the distinction between orchestra and audience, where learning becomes a creative act, and participation becomes performance.
Wild Up was founded on the idea that music is not something delivered to an audience, but something shaped in the presence of a community. Over the years, we’ve opened rehearsals, hosted workshops, cultivated conversation, and invited people into the process behind the music.
The Collective Orchestra is the next evolution of that impulse — and, in many ways, a return to our beginnings: expanding classical and experimental music to hold more people, more perspectives, and more possibilities.
The Collective Orchestra is:
- Performances where Wild Up musicians and community members share the stage
- Historical repertoire and new commissions reimagined through collective process
- Public rehearsals that welcome participation
- Workshops that make adventurous music accessible
- Ongoing dialogue about how and why we make music
- And more!
